Tracking setup
Install Mythic on a client's site, check that events arrive, serve tracking from the client's own domain, and connect GoHighLevel.
Overview
The Tracking setup screen walks through getting one client's tracking live. Open a client and choose Tracking. Each step checks itself and shows whether it is done.
Install the snippet
Copy the snippet and paste it into the <head> of every page on the client's
site, or into the site builder's header code setting. The snippet loads Mythic
with the client's publishable key, which is safe on a public website.
Verify events are arriving
This step shows the time of the last event and the number of events in the last 24 hours. It turns done once the first event arrives, usually within a minute of someone loading a page. Click Check again to refresh.
If nothing arrives, check that the snippet is in the page's <head> on the
live site, not only in a draft. Ask agent to diagnose opens the chat panel
to work through it with you.
Serve from your own domain
Recommended. Tracking runs from a subdomain of the client's site, such as
data.acmeplumbing.com, instead of Mythic's domain. Browsers and ad blockers
treat it as part of the client's site, so fewer events are lost.
- Enter the Tracking hostname and click Add hostname.
- Add the CNAME record shown under Point DNS at Mythic at the client's DNS provider.
- Mythic issues the certificate once the record resolves. DNS, Certificate and Verified turn done when it is ready.
Remove stops serving from the hostname.
Connect GoHighLevel
For clients on GoHighLevel. Click Connect GoHighLevel and choose the client's sub-account. Mythic then receives CRM events such as new contacts and opportunity changes, and ties them to the same people as the website events. Reconnect fixes a connection that shows Disconnected.
Privacy and capture
- Add IP and location at the edge: adds the visitor's IP address and location to every event, including the first one of a visit. Meta uses these to match conversions. It does nothing for HIPAA clients.
- Autocapture clicks and forms: records clicks and form submissions without extra code. This setting overrides the site's own snippet settings.
- Allowed sites: the hostnames that may send events for this client, comma separated. Subdomains are included. Leave it empty to accept any site.
